‘The Greater Hewitt-Waco area is served by two fully accred­ited, not-for-profit hos­pi­tals. Health care for Hewitt res­i­dents includes two clin­ics that serve the med­ical needs of the com­mu­nity. Scott & White Clinic and Hill­crest Med­ical Clinic, both on Hewitt Drive, are satel­lites of larger med­ical facil­i­ties nearby.

Hill­crest Health Sys­tem oper­ates with a mis­sion to per­son­ally pro­vide qual­ity, com­pas­sion­ate health care in a Chris­t­ian envi­ron­ment. The sys­tem includes Hill­crest Bap­tist Med­ical Cen­ter (HBMC), a fully accred­ited 236-bed acute care hos­pi­tal on Inter­state 35; HBMC – Her­ring Avenue, a post-acute care cam­pus com­prised of more than 50 inpa­tient beds includ­ing the only acute care Inpa­tient Reha­bil­i­ta­tion Cen­ter in Waco; and Hill­crest Fam­ily Health Cen­ter, a net­work of pri­mary care clin­ics located in Bellmead, China Spring, Hewitt, Gatesville, Wood­way and Waco. Hill­crest Bap­tist Med­ical Cen­ter is jointly oper­ated by Hill­crest Health Sys­tem and Scott & White Health­care. HMBC is home to Waco’s only Neona­tal Inten­sive Care Unit and is the area’s only Level II Trauma Cen­ter. Hill­crest is also the offi­cial health care provider for Bay­lor Uni­ver­sity athletics.

Serv­ing the Waco com­mu­nity since 1905, Prov­i­dence Health­care Net­work is ded­i­cated to car­ry­ing out our Mis­sion of Com­pas­sion and Vision of Excel­lence through pro­vid­ing excep­tional health care. The Prov­i­dence Net­work  includes the Prov­i­dence Health Cen­ter, a 214-bed acute care full-service med­ical cen­ter, with car­diac, ortho­pe­dic, obstet­ric, bariatric, reha­bil­i­ta­tive and emer­gency ser­vices; sev­eral Prov­i­dence Clin­ics; the DePaul Cen­ter, a 64 bed men­tal health facil­ity; Prov­i­dence Home Care, one of the largest full-service home care agen­cies locally; and Prov­i­dence Park, a 341 bed multi-level of care, long-term facil­ity and retire­ment com­mu­nity offer­ing sub-acute, nurs­ing care and reha­bil­i­ta­tion ser­vices. Other ser­vice lines include a cer­ti­fied pri­mary stroke cen­ter, The Heart Hos­pi­tal at Prov­i­dence, and the new Prov­i­dence Breast Health Cen­ter. Prov­i­dence is a mem­ber of Ascen­sion Health, head­quar­tered in St. Louis, Mo. Ascen­sion Health is trans­form­ing health care by pro­vid­ing the high­est qual­ity care to all, with spe­cial atten­tion to those who are poor and vul­ner­a­ble, and is the nation’s largest Catholic and non-profit health system.

Two addi­tional hos­pi­tals, Scott & White Memo­r­ial and Kings Daugh­ters, are located 30 min­utes south of Hewitt in Tem­ple. Waco is also the home of the Vet­er­ans Admin­is­tra­tion Hospital.

Cen­tral Texas Urgent Care and Dr. Sue Stanko are both located on Hewitt Drive and pro­vide imme­di­ate care to local residents.
